About the Foundation

At the Mary Ann Pathy Foundation, we believe that meaningful change is best delivered by strong, community-based organizations.

Our granting model is designed to support effective, long-term partnerships across our three areas of care. Through our grants, we are investing in our partners’ abilities to facilitate successful, substantial, and sustainable change for women in our communities.

Where We Give

We invest in frontline organizations that support underserved women in the areas of education, mental health, and eldercare.

Education

Women benefit exponentially, and often generationally, from improved access to educational opportunities. 
We want to support that.

Mental Health

Women often have greater difficulty accessing mental health services, advocacy, and support. 
We want to change that.

About Mary

Mary Ann Pathy lived her life with curiosity, generosity, and an uncommon empathy for those navigating difficult life transitions.

1937 – 2025

Mary was a thoughtful and committed philanthropist, who invested in people, not only with her resources but also with her time, attention, and care.

She brought her kindness, humour and profoundly non-judgmental spirit into the classroom for a decade as a high school and college teacher, and later served as a counsellor providing direction to at-risk students. Upon her retirement, Mary switched her focus and resources to supporting causes aligned with mental health, first as a grief counsellor and later as a passionate volunteer with her therapy dog, and beloved friend, Coco.

The Mary Ann Pathy Foundation is proud to carry forward Mary’s legacy, supporting underserved women in the areas of education, mental health, and eldercare.
